From the Premier League to the Champions League, European football is watched late into the night across Nepal. Here is how the main football markets work, what moves the prices and how to judge a price.
Online betting is not legal for residents of Nepal. This guide explains the markets; read what the law says before acting on it.
The main football markets
1X2 — match result
Three outcomes: 1 home win, X draw, 2 away win, settled on the score after 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalties do not count. Around a quarter of top-league matches end in a draw, which is why the X price usually sits between 3.00 and 4.00.
Double chance
Cover two of the three results: 1X (home win or draw), X2 (away win or draw) or 12 (either team wins). Lower odds, fewer losing bets.
Draw no bet
You back one team; if the match is drawn your stake comes back. It is the same as a handicap of 0, and our match cards list it as "Draw no bet".
Handicap
A goal head start or deficit evens out a one-sided match. "Arsenal −1.5" needs Arsenal to win by two or more. "Fulham +1.5" wins if Fulham win, draw or lose by a single goal. Whole-number handicaps (−1, +1) return the stake if the margin lands exactly on the line.
Over/under goals
Bet on the total number of goals. "Over 2.5" needs three or more; "under 2.5" wins with two or fewer. The most common lines are 2.5 and 3.5; our cards show the bookmaker's main line for each game.
Both teams to score (BTTS)
Yes if both sides score at least once, no if either keeps a clean sheet. The final score itself does not matter.
What moves football odds
- Team news and line-ups. A missing striker or goalkeeper can move prices sharply. Confirmed line-ups come out about an hour before kick-off — our match cards show probable line-ups when the data feed has them.
- Form. Results over the last five games, shown as W/D/L on our cards, and how a team is creating chances.
- Home advantage. Still worth a fraction of a goal in most leagues.
- Fixture congestion. Teams playing in Europe midweek often rotate at the weekend.
- Motivation. End-of-season games between sides with nothing to play for are harder to price.
Reading a football price
Decimal odds show the total return per unit: NPR 1,000 at 2.40 returns NPR 2,400. The implied probability is 1 ÷ odds, so 2.40 means about 42%. Add the three 1X2 probabilities and you get a little over 100% — the extra is the bookmaker's margin. Our cards strip it out so the probabilities add up to exactly 100%. Kick-off times in Nepal
European evening matches start late in Kathmandu. A 20:00 kick-off in London is 01:45 the next morning in Nepal during the UK winter, and Champions League nights begin at 01:45 NPT. Every time on this site is already converted to Nepal time.
Common mistakes
- Accumulators with many legs: each extra selection multiplies the bookmaker's edge.
- Betting on big clubs out of loyalty rather than value.
- Ignoring the draw in tight league games.
- Betting late at night after a few losses.
